The Prospector 16' needs little introduction. It's one of the most written-about and widely paddled canoe designs in Canadian history, and Nova Craft has been building their faithful version of the original Chestnut lines since 1984. Loaded with gear on a remote river or lake, this is the hull that feels completely in its element. The shallow arch bottom has a self-righting quality that experienced paddlers come to rely on deeply, and the high-volume hull keeps gear dry through whitewater and open water chop without sacrificing tracking or hull speed on flatwater.

In Aramid Lite, the P16 comes in at 45 lbs, which is genuinely impressive for a canoe with a 1,000 lb capacity. Nova Craft uses Twaron aramid cloth infused with high-impact vinylester resin for a layup that's both light and strong, and well suited to long portage routes where every pound on your shoulders matters.
